About me

My name is Abdullah Aljumah, am Saudi and was born in 1979 in Al-Ahsa in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.I live and work in Jubail Industrial City, which is located in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia (See some pictures of the city by clicking here.) A short autobiographical information about me goes as follows.
In 1997, I finished the secondary school – Science field with a percentage of 93%. The first thing that was in my mind to study was computing. Computer science continues to be the focus of newcomers to university as computer technology was, and still is, involved in most aspects of modern life. Many students whom I have known have suffered failure that wasn’t related to learning computers but to their ESL proficiency. Thus, I have wanted to work in anticipation of that problem and to overcome it before it occurs. So I have been entirely confident that studying English is a sine qua non for mastering Computer Science.
Accordingly, I have decided to study English first and get a BA then pursue my study in Computer Science. Surprisingly, during my English/Applied Linguistics program, I’ve become deeply interested in the English language itself and its literature as well. Actually, I’ve become an avid reader. I’ve become deeply interested in reading poems, novels, short stories and so forth. Yet, I’ve always given computing the priority in my hobbies and it does occupy a major part of my free time.
In 2002, I received my BA in English/Applied Linguistics with a GPA of 4.13 out of 5, which was within the range of the first duplicated top student of the English department in that year. Upon my graduation I was hired by the Royal Commission for Jubail, one of the two most important industrial cities in Saudi Arabia, in the capacity of a regular ESL teacher. During the initial two years, I’ve always been using my laptop in my teaching; and I have always been working with computer software such as Microsoft Office Applications, Flash, Adope Photoshop, Ulead Gif Animation, and have been working with computer hardware configuration, and network-related problems namely, formatting, installing, fixing, connecting, replacing and so forth. These render me highly distinguished among my colleagues.
Consequently, I have been chosen to carry out training sessions at the Royal Commission Community Service Center to which I was formally transferred in 2004. This center utilizes modern teaching methods; that’s the E-Learning Method which has to do with computer programs and applications in teaching.
In 2006, I received a Fulbright scholarship from the American Embassy to pursue my MA in the US. Two years went by so fast and I seriously felt that these two years went in a blink of an eye.
Luckily, I did pretty well and I got the degree with an Honor. Furthermore, I had a paper published and many more yet to come with God's will. Currently, I live and work in Jubail Industrial City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. If you are a friend -- or soon to be, I will definitely be looking forward to meeting/hearing from you.
